Grounds for election

Al dug at Danebury from 1984-90 and studied Classics/Arch & Anth at Cambridge (1987-91). He subsequently worked for the Cambridge Unit in 1991-2 then joined RCHME as a field investigator, following on as a Senior Investigator with the English Heritage Research Department until 2012, specialising in the analysis and survey of earthwork sites and landscapes. During this career he has published numerous articles in journals, books and monographs and he was the lead author on two books, a national survey of causewayed camps 'The Creation of Monuments: Neolithic Enclosures in the British Isles' and 'Hillforts of Northumberland National Park'. His primary interest is in the prehistoric period and in 2012 he left English Heritage to undertake a PhD at York University studying the landscapes of the Neolithic, building on the already published work on the book on causewayed camps, as well as interrupting his studies to teach landscape archaeology at Sheffield University for a year.
