Grounds for election

Bill Gibson, my pupil at Lampeter, taught in a Hampshire Comprehensive School and at Basingstoke College of Technology before joining the staff of Oxford Brookes University in 2004. He is now Director of the Oxford Centre for Methodism and Church History. Professor Gibson is the author of ten books on Church History in the 'long eighteenth century' and he has also been the editor or co-editor of eight further books in the same field. His contributions to other works and his articles in academic journals are numerous. Bill is certainly known internationally as an outstanding contributor to the contemporary 'revision' of our understanding of the Church of England, and especially its episcopate, in the eighteenth century.
