Grounds for election
Mr Stewart's career has been in mining history and the museums sector, managing the George & Charlotte Mine at Morwellham in Devon since 2007. He has published extensively in industrial history from 1994. His most recent book ‘Devon Great Consols, a Mine of Mines’ published in 2013 by the Trevithick Society, was the result of a ten year research project, resulting in the definitive history of this important 19th century copper and arsenic mine. His current areas of research include the 18th century development of the atmospheric engine and its contribution to the growth of deep mining in Cornwall. Media work has included being consultant and contributor to the BBC’s Edwardian Farm, Wartime Farm & Channel 4's series Restoring Britain’s Landmarks. He is an expert in underground mining archaeology, having considerable experience in recording and interpretation of mine sites both above and below ground, with excellent knowledge of 19th century ore dressing techniques.
