Grounds for election

Dr Shannon has published widely on, and made major contributions to, the landscape, agricultural and cartographic history of England in the early modern period, with particular reference to Lancashire and Cumbria. He currently serves as Treasurer and Vice-President of the Cumberland and Westmorland Antiquarian and Archaeological Society; Treasurer of the British Agricultural History Society and as a trustee of the Cumbria County History Trust, with special responsibilities for overseeing the website.
