Educated at Lancing College & Christ Church, Oxford. Read theology. Ordained 1966 (C of E). Worked in parishes & cathedrals, including as archivist of York Minster Publications: 'What are Cathedral Chapters for? From Carolingian Times to Victorian' ('Theology' March 1983). 'The Liberty of St Peter: an account of York Minster's exempt jurisdiction 1830-1838' (Borthwick Papers, University of York, No. 77, 1990). 'Dean & Chapter's Court of Audience 13th to 19th centuries' (Friends of York Minster 61st Report, 1990). 'William Stubbs, Father of Modern History' ('History Today', May 2015). Current projects: Brief lives of Anglican worthies, including Thomas Tallis, Richard Busby, George Herbert, Dr Johnson, Christina Rossetti, Henrietta Barnett, Ninian Comper. These + 70 others have been published piecemeal in the 'Church Times'. Exhibitions researched and curated at York Minster: 'Lord Halifax & the Malines Conversations' (1983). 'Dean Milner-White's Life & Work' (1984).
