Grounds for election

He is an authority on the history of Kent, and the author of a biography on Bryan Fausset, FSA, the pioneering archaeologist ( Archaeopress 2015). He translated the medieval charters of that borough for publication in The Royal charters of Faversham ( Faversham Society 2013). He has undertaken major projects of sorting and cataloguing in the Kent Archives, leading to a variety of other publications, most recently on the earliest Kentish parish registers ( Archaeologia Cantiana 2014). He has lectured widely on aspects of local history based on these researches. His PhD was a critical edition of Book 37 of Pliny’s Natural History. For many years he has been involved in teaching his specialist subjects at degree level, both at the University of Kent and at University College London. He is a council member and fellow of the Society of Genealogists, and has participated in digs for the Canterbury Archaeological Trust and the Kent Archaeological Society.
