Grounds for election

Ian Leins is curator of archaeology for English Heritage, having previously worked for the British Museum and the Portable Antiquities Scheme. His PhD questioned the importance of tribal authorities in late Iron Age Britain, using coin distributions to demonstrate the significance of local communities, their leaders and independent itinerant moneyers. As well as publishing numerous articles on coinage and hoards, he has developed a number of important online archaeological databases including the research catalogue of Roman Republican Coins in the British Museum and the online Celtic Coin Index. Ian co-curated the highly-acclaimed British Museum and National Museum of Scotland’s collaborative exhibition Celts: art and identity.
