Grounds for election

Mark Samuels Lasner is Senior Research Fellow, University of Delaware Library, and a noted scholar, collector, and bibliographer of the Victorian period. A Connecticut College graduate, he is the author of The Yellow Book: A Checklist and Index, A Selective Checklist of the Published Work of Aubrey Beardsley and other books. He has organized many exhibitions, most recently Everything is Going On Brilliantly: Oscar Wilde and Philadelphia (Rosenbach Museum & Library, 2015) and Richard Le Gallienne: Liverpool’s Wild(e) Poet (Liverpool Central Library, 2016), both curated with Margaret Stetz. Active in many bibliophile and bibliographical groups, Samuels Lasner was awarded (2003) the Sir Thomas More medal by the University of San Francisco to honor “private collecting, a public benefit.” His collection of 9500 books, manuscripts, and artworks related to the Pre-Raphaelites and the writers and artists of the 1890s was donated to the University of Delaware Library in 2016.
