Main interest outside of professional career has been the study of English decorative and applied art. Has been an accredited NADFAS lecturer for 40 years. Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers (Master 1999-2000). Honorary Keeper of Clocks to the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge (current). Chairman of the Bookplate Society of London since 1986. Author of English nineteenth-century press-moulded glass (1979); Erotic bookplates (1999); Bookplates of Miss C. Helard (2012); Strawberry leaves (some ducal families and their bookplates) currently in the press, 2016.
