Grounds for election

He is an Honorary Research Associate and member of the Steering Committee of the Hellenic Institute, Royal Holloway, University of London, and on the Executive Committee of the Society for the Promotion of Byzantine Studies. Through fieldwork and survey he has made an original and extensive contribution to the study of the architecture of the military orders in the eastern Mediterranean. He has published articles on the defence systems of the Byzantines and Hospitallers in Rhodes and the Dodecanese, and on Hospitaller statecraft in the Aegean. He co-edited Byzantium and Venice: 1204-1453 (2011). He chaired the organising committee of the 6th and 7th Military Orders Conferences and is ex-vice chair of the Anglo-Albanian Association.
