Grounds for election

Dr Duckworth is a Lecturer at Newcastle University. She has extensive experience in the research of Late Antique and Islamic pyrotechnology and technological interaction, and is the Director of an interdisciplinary research project and network (The al-Andalus Glass Project) exploring glasses and glazed ceramics from the Muslim and Christian periods in the Iberian Peninsula. This work has received funding from the Society of Antiquaries and the British Academy, and features research at the Alhambra, Spain, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dr Duckworth also holds a British Academy Postdoctoral fellowship that combines 'Big Data' with experimental archaeology. Prior to this she worked on the Trans-SAHARA Project where her research focus was on the analysis of imported Roman glass vessels, and locally-produced glasses including beads and bangles, in the Sahara Desert and its environs. Dr Duckworth is a Council Member for the Association of the History of Glass.
