Grounds for election

Dr Swales holds a BA (Hons) in Archaeology and Prehistory (2001), MSc. in Human Osteology and Funerary Archaeology (2002) and PhD in bio-cultural approaches to later Anglo-Saxon burial practice (2013) from the University of Sheffield. She has over 10 years’ experience in the excavation and analysis of human skeletal remains and funerary artefacts from both commercial and university research excavations in the UK and on the Island of Saint Helena. Diana’s research interests principally focus on biological anthropology and bio-cultural analysis of human remains and burial practices from medieval and post-medieval cemetery assemblages. This work has generated numerous reports and several book chapters and peer-reviewed articles. She was Demonstrator in Human Osteology at the University of Sheffield between 2013 and 2016, and in January 2017 she was appointed Lecturer in Forensic Archaeology and Anthropology at the University of Dundee.
