Grounds for election

Kathy has worked in planning and the historic environment for over 30 years both in local authorities and latterly with Historic England. She has held a number of positions in the IHBC and is currently Vice-Chair. Having completed her doctoral research on early modern secular wall paintings in 2002, she has continued to research what they can tell us about the lives of ordinary people. Publications include: Artisan Art: vernacular wall paintings in the Welsh Marches 1550-1650, 2008; a chapter in All Manner of Murals: The History, Techniques and Conservation of Secular Wall Paintings, (2007); a chapter Architect, Patron and Craftsman in Tudor and Early Stuart England: Essays for Malcolm Airs, (due spring 2017). She has lectured widely and in 2014 ran a symposium on early modern wall paintings in conjunction with The Oxford Research Centre for the Humanities. Currently she is preparing a further book on wall paintings, focussing on aspects of early modern life at the vernacular level.
