Grounds for election

Dr Clare Haynes is a historian of art and religion. She has published a well-received book (Pictures and Popery: art and religion in England 1660-1760 (2006) as well as numeorus papers on art in post-Reformation Britain. She has recently completed a book on art in the Church of England (1660-1839), which makes extensive use of antiquarian sources to produce a ground-breaking history, which seeks to change perceptions of the Church of England in the long 18th century. Her other interests include the history of collecting and graphic satire. She is currently engaged in researching antiquarianism in Norfolk, particularly with regard to the medieval churches of Norwich and her work is forming the basis of a forthcoming exhibition at the Norfolk Record Office. Two essays will also follow. So significant are some of the discoveries made in the course of this work, a further research project on the sources and history of Norfolk antiquarianism 1700-1900 is being planned.
