Grounds for election

Receiving his PhD in 2006 Dr Hawkes managed the Finds Laboratory in the Cambridge Archaeological Unit before undertaking postdoctoral research at Aarhus in 2012. He has been an Affiliate Lecturer in the Dept of Archaeology and Anthropology at Cambridge and since 2014 has worked in the Dept of Asia in the British Museum. He was Project Director for the Surkher Valley Project, Nepal and Bharhus Region Project, India, and has worked on the Khasa Malla Monument Programme, Nepal and the Entrep?t project, run by Aarhus and York Universities. Since 2005 he has worked with research groups through the British Assn for South Asian Studies. In addition to presenting papers internationally and publishing extensively in Ancient Asia, J of Indian Ocean Archaeology, J of the Royal Asiatic Society and Quaternary International, and co-editing Buddhist Stupas in South Asia (2009), he is an established editor with Cambridge Archaeol. J and World Archaeology and Associate Editor for South Asian Studies.
