Dr James Gerrard, BA MA PhD ACIfA FHEA. Senior Lecturer in Roman Archaeology, Newcastle University (a specialist in Roman material culture who has written extensively on finds and the end of Roman Britain, the major excavations at Shadwell (E. London) and Tabard Square (Southwark), and has written 'The Ruin of Roman Britain' (CUP 2013); he is currently carrying out a long-term project to investigate the late Roman villa at Lufton and its environs).
