Grounds for election

Malcolm's archaeological career has spanned 40 years over which time he has been active in two main areas: curatorial archaeology and commercially funded research primarily into the history and archaeology of the County of Cheshire and environs. Initially employed as Archives and then Records Officer with English Heritage and RCHM(E) he then worked with Shropshire Council in the Historic Environment Team. From 1998, he ran his own business as an archaeological consultant writing conservation and management plans for a significant range of historic landscapes and sites in Shropshire. In Cheshire he wrote an archaeological assessment of Middlewich and contributed to the Historic Landscape Characterisation project for the county as well as the revised Pevsner volume for Cheshire. His chronological range of interests is remarkable and reflects a strong understanding of the significance of historic landscapes and sites over time in the very distinctive environment of Cheshire.
