Grounds for election

Dr Galanakis is a specialist in Aegean Prehistory with a strong research interest in the history of archaeology and collecting. He has published widely on Greek Bronze Age burial. He was a curator of the major exhibition at the Ashmolean Museum in 2011 ('Heracles to Alexander the Great'), co-editing the exhibition catalogue and guide. He is currently directing excavations at Prosilio, a Mycenaean cemetery near Orchomenos in Northern Boeotia, Greece, and also leading a project on the 19th–century antiquities trade in Greece. He is also Director of the Museum of Classical Archaeology in Cambridge, and is co-curating a forthcoming exhibition at the Fitzwilliam Museum on the decipherment of Linear B.
