Grounds for election

After his Cambridge first degree in archaeology and PhD on Neanderthal archaeology (1988) Tim Reynolds was a Lecturer in Archaeology at the University of Dar-es-Salaam (1989-1990) and then County Archaeologist for Cambridgeshire before taking up his Birkbeck post in 2003. He has published extensively on the Palaeolithic archaeology of Europe, North Africa, and Southeast Asia. He directed the major re-excavations of the Niah Cave in Borneo (2000-2003) and the Haua Fteah cave in Libya (2007-2015) and is currently directing the new excavations in Shanidar Cave in Iraqi Kurdistan. His recent publications include papers on these projects in Antiquity, Journal of Archaeological Science, Libyan Studies and Quaternary International and several chapters in G. Barker (ed. 2013) Rainforest Foraging and Farming in Island Southeast Asia and G. Barker & L. Farr (eds. 2017) Archaeological Investigations in the Niah Caves, Sarawak.
