Grounds for election

He is general editor of the Gloucestershire Record Series and has brought to publication vols 24-31 which always attract favourable reviews in national journals. He is Chairman of the Gloucestershire County History Trust which manages the production of new VCH volumes for the county. He is Chairman of the VCH Advisory Board of the Institute of Historical Research and has kept the VCH on course during the last few turbulent yeas . He is Vice-Chairman (in effect Chairman-elect) of the Bristol and Gloucestershire Archaeological Society, founded 1876. He has wide knowledge of the local history of Cheltenham and of Gloucestershire at large and his contributions to research and publication in these fields are second to none.
