Grounds for election

Dr Richard Madgwick’s research ranges widely across the field of osteoarchaeology, with major themes including feasting, mobility and method development in the use of taphonomic and isotopic data. He has published 22 journal articles, 7 chapters in edited volumes and 10 popular/short articles. He has also co-edited 3 volumes and 2 special issues. Notable publications include his 2015 Antiquity paper on feasting at Llanmaes and his in press Archaeological and Anthropological Sciences paper on the provisioning of the Roman Army. From 2013 to 2016 he was engaged in a British Academy Post-doctoral fellowship (4.5% success rate in cohort) investigating feasting and connectivity in Late Neolithic Britain, amassing the largest multi-isotope dataset involving five proxies yet delivered in archaeology. He spent 6 years on the committee of the Association for Environmental Archaeology (2009-15), is a member of the AHRC peer review college member and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
