Grounds for election

Dr Philip De Jersey's contribution to Channel Islands Archaeology & the academic and practical study of Numismatics over the last 30 years is outstandingly important, & worthy of Fellowship. He was research assistant to Barry Cunliffe from 1992-2004, developing the Celtic Coin Index. He has been Archaeologist for Guernsey since 2008 & regularly publishes papers & articles on the archaeology of Guernsey & the wider Channel region. He specialises in the understanding & interpretation of later Iron Age coinage, especially in North-West France & Britain. He has published extensively on various aspects of Iron Age numismatics, especially ‘Coinage in Iron Age Armorica’ & ‘Coin Hoards in Iron Age Britain’, for which he was awarded the North Book Prize of the British Numismatic Society. He was also awarded the British Numismatic Society Council Prize for 1999, for contributions to the study of Celtic coinage. He has been an Honorary Research Fellow at the Ashmolean Museum since 2002.
