Grounds for election
David Carrington is a leading conservator with expertise in wall paintings, archaeological and architectural conservation, including tombs. He has worked for the Welsh Folk Museum, the Museum of London, Hanna Conservation and Hirst Conservation, his current position is Managing Director of the Skillington Workshop; he has lent his expertise to the Church Monuments Society, Durham & Lincoln cathedrals, ICON [the Institute of Conservation] and SPAB [the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings]. In 2017 he received the SPAB's Gwyn Watkins Award in recognition of an outstanding contribution to traditional building skills and support of the SPAB’s William Morris Craft Fellowship. He received his D.Phil. (York, 2001) for a dissertation on English Church Monuments to 1750, and has published extensively in the Journal of Architectural Conservation, Lime News, the Church Monuments Society Newsletter and SPAB News, as well as contributing to books on conservation.
