Grounds for election

Robert (Bob) Woosnam-Savage has had a distinguished career as a curator in major national collections of arms and armour; from 1983 to 1997 in the collections of Glasgow Museums and from 1997 to the present in the Royal Armouries. He is an international authority on edged weapons, the Jacobites, battlefields, and arms and armour portrayed in films. His exhibition projects have included, in 1995-6, Bonnie Prince Charlie: Fact and Fiction, and in 2008, Arms & Armour from the Movies: The Wonderful World of Weta. In association with the International Medieval Congress of the University of Leeds he has conducted a number of highly successful tours of castles in the UK. He is the Project Weapons Expert for the University of Leicester’s Search for Richard III Archaeological Team and lectures widely on the subject. He has published a significant number of articles and larger works and is currently researching the sword of Henry V in Westminster Abbey and weapons of the Norman Conquest.
