Grounds for election

Dr Lodwick is an emerging leader in the field of Archaeobotany, working currently on the relationships between urbanisation and agriculture in later prehistoric and Roman Europe. Prior to her current Fellowship, she was a key member of the team that brought the ground-breaking ‘Rural Settlement of Roman Britain’ project to completion. She has published a number of major papers in recent years which integrate economic and ritual interpretations of archaeobotanical analyses in an innovative way, addressing audiences not just in Roman studies but across the field of environmental research. Dr Lodwick has also organised numerous academic events, and has played the leading role in the establishment of a new journal arising from the well-established Theoretical Roman Archaeology Conference. She has been successful in attracting research awards and has undertaken teaching in several institutions, and on a range of field projects in the UK, including the long-running Silchester excavations.
