Grounds for election
Dr Wilkin is the curator of the Early Europe collections at the British Museum, primarily responsible for the Bronze Age European material. He is a leading expert on the ceramics and metalwork of the first ages of metal and has published widely on the subject. His major publications include papers on the beaker people in north-east Scotland and metalwork deposition in southern England. He is in charge of Bronze Age treasure finds from England including significant hoards of BA metalwork, which are regularly discovered by chance. He has curated a number of major exhibitions at the British Museum, including the 'Sobek Crocodile mummy' and 'Three journeys', the latter of which showcased the footprints from Happisburgh. He was also instrumental in the digitization of the Bronze AgeIindex as part of the groundbreaking Micropasts project. He is also a co-investigator on the AHRC funded 'Grave goods' project with the universities of Manchester and Reading.
