Internationally recognised expert on Medieval architecture, especially of Central Europe. Currently Senior Lecturer in the History and Theory of Architecture, Birkbeck College, University of London. Author of numerous publications including ground-breaking book, "Diamond Vaults: Innovation and Geometry in Medieval Architecture" (2005) and joint editor of three major books: Studies in Medieval Art, Liber amicorum Paul Crossley (with A. Timmermann) 1: "Architecture, Liturgy and Identity"; vol. 2: "Image, Memory and Devotion" (Brepols, 2011); "Prague and Bohemia: Medieval Art, Architecture and Cultural Exchange in Central Europe" (The British Archaeological Association Conference Transactions, 32), Leeds, 2009; "The Year 1300 and the Creation of a New European Architecture", (with A. Gajewski), (Architectura Medii Aevi, vol. 1), Brepols, 2008, as well as numerous articles in English and European academic journals on the processional and ritual use of architecture and architectural space.
