Jane Perry is the foremost UK specialist in traditional and regional jewellery from Europe and beyond. She was consultant on the V&A jewellery gallery and is currently cataloguing the V&A’s traditional jewellery collections. She is the daughter of Evan Perry, founder member of the Arms & Armour Society, and has long collected traditional jewellery. She has pioneered the study of the taste for peasant jewellery in Victorian Britain and her knowledge of types, usage and relevant makers’ marks is outstanding. Her recent book, Traditional Jewellery in Nineteenth-Century Europe (V&A 2013) is the first English-language survey and a major contribution to the subject. Previous publications include: A Collector’s Guide to Peasant Silver Buttons ( lulu.com, 2007); ‘A problem solved: identification of some silver marks used on 19th century Greek jewellery from Corfu’, Jewellery History Today 4 (Autumn 2009); ‘The Victorian passion for peasant jewellery’, Jewellery Studies 12 (Winter 2012/2013)
