Grounds for election

The candidate is a leader in the field of archaeozoology, with particular applications in sustainability (using environmental data to address trajectories of human-environment relations) and palaeodiet (pioneering analyses of ungulate dental microwear, providing insights into the impact of grazing animals). Her field areas include Shetland, the North Atlantic Islands and Eurasia with funding from major research bodies. She has been involved in the supervision of 11 research students and has participated in numerous conferences as organiser and/or speaker and has engaged in a range of public engagement activities. She is the editor-in-chief of ‘Environmental Archaeology’ and has published widely in specialist and academic archaeology outlets. An affiliated scholar at City University New York, she is also Advisor on the Science Panel of the Scottish Archaeology Research Framework (Soc. Antiqs. Scot.) and held previous academic posts at Sheffield and Bradford Universities.
