Dr IJssennagger is an internationally respected scholar with strong experience in museum and heritage curatorship, alongside an impressive record of research and publication integrating cross-disciplinary perspectives within international perspectives on cultural development from the Early Middle Ages to Early Modern times. Her PhD is on Frisia in the Viking-age North Sea sphere, and she co-edited 'Frisians and their North Sea Neighbours' with John Hines (2017) having played a leading role in organizing the conference which led to that volume. She has recently moved to a curatorial position in Cornwall with the National Trust, having formerly spent seven years as Curator of the Archaeological and Medieval Collections of the Fries Museum in Leeuwarden. Her output includes scholarly studies of the highest calibre alongside effective writing of a more public-facing style.
