Grounds for election
Dr Erin Griffey is a leading authority on visual and material culture at the Stuart court. She has MA and PhD degrees from the Courtauld Institute of Art, and has taught at the University of Auckland since 2002. She has edited Henrietta Maria: Piety, Politics and Patronage (Ashgate, 2008), and in 2015 she published a major monograph, On Display: Henrietta Maria and the Materials of Magnificence at the Stuart Court (Yale University Press). She has written articles for The Burlington Magazine, The Journal of the History of Collections, The History Workshop Journal, and The British Art Journal, as well as contributing to several edited collections. She has also curated three exhibitions of portraiture in New Zealand and she regularly gives lectures and conference papers on aspects of early modern court culture. She is currently editing a volume, Fashioning Women at Court, 1500-1700: Sartorial Politics, which is under contract with Amsterdam University Press.
