Grounds for election

Xavier Dectot is a distinguished scholar of medieval sculpture, and a museum professional. He is currently the keeper of Art and Design at the National Museum of Scotland, and previously served as Curator of sculpture, ivories and maiolicas at the Musée de Cluny, Paris, and then as the first Director of Louvre-Lens. He has published widely on the sculpture of the 11th - 13th centuries, including among his publications the catalogue of the sculpture of that period in the Musée de Cluny, and has organised major exhibitions on Romanesque sculpture in Europe, from Catalonia to Scandinavia. He also has extensive teaching and lecturing experience as visiting lecturer in Paris and elsewhere in Europe. He has recently taken over the chairmanship of the Management Board of the Corpus of Romanesque Sculpture in Britain and Ireland.
