Grounds for election

Dr Clive Bridger-Kraus is a distinguished English archaeologist who has excavated in Britain, Italy, Egypt and Tunisia, but spent his career primarily in Germany. He worked at the Roman city of Xanten for ten years from 1975, then joined the Xanten Unit of the LVR-Rhineland State Archaeological Service. In 2003 he became head of excavations and from 2006 was responsible for all new finds from the Lower Rhineland. During his career he gained a MA and Doctorate. His academic publications include three monographs: one on excavations and one on an archaeological survey at Xanten, plus reports on the Roman-era cemetery of Tönisvorst-Vorst and settlement of the Kempen Lehmplatte, based on his doctoral thesis. He has co-edited two volumes and penned more than fifty articles. In 2014 he went into semi-retirement to focus on publishing, lecturing and translating. Since 1983 he has produced hundreds of scholarly translations of archaeological texts.
