Mr Smith has worked as an archaeologist in Wales for the last fifteen years, specialising in building & landscape research. His current research specialism is investigating the historical, archaeological & literature evidence for medieval parks, gardens & designed landscapes in N.Wales & NW. Shropshire. Published papers on several previously unidentified examples of both English and Welsh royal & noble parks & gardens. This research has significantly altered our understanding of how these environments functioned as socio-economic & political spaces. Currently writing ‘Medieval Parks & Gardens’ for Pen & Sword.
