Susan is one of the most distinguished archival researchers in Britain, today, specialising in Chancery Proceedings. Her work has made her a foremost authority on the written record of pre-20th century property transactions in Britain. Her Tracing your Ancestors through the Equity Courts, (Pen & Sword 2017) is a considerable expansion on earlier articles. She has provided the archival and illustration research for publications and websites of her clients, as well as for television programmes. She has been a Tutor for annual 5 week online course on deeds and Chancery records, for Pharos and the Society of Genealogists, and has given many classes and workshops on historical methodology and property and Chancery research. She is active in local and national archive organisations, including as a Trustee of the British Association for Local History, and was formerly the representative of Medieval and Early Modern readers on the User Advisory Group at the National Archives.
