Sophie Jackson is the Director of Research and Engagement at MOLA (Museum of London Archaeology). She has designed, enabled and managed some of MOLA’s most complex and ambitious programmes of archaeological fieldwork and research, including the recent investigations at the site of London’s Roman Temple of Mithras and, over the last two decades, at sites such as the ‘Roman Governor’s Palace’ beneath Cannon Street Station, Cripplegate Fort, the Roman Forum & notable Roman and medieval waterfront sites. Sophie has also led important built heritage projects such as at Middle Temple Lane and Cutler Street and, alongside numerous articles on heritage management and professional development, co-authored ‘Measurement and Recording of Historic Buildings’ (Donman 2004). An influential archaeologist and leader in professional and public archaeology, Sophie is currently a member of the Society for the Promotion of Roman Studies’ Council and Historic England’s London Advisory Committee.
