Prof Krista J. Kesselring is one of North America's leading historians of Tudor England, with a focus on the history of English legal institutions, and on northern history. Her books include Mercy and Authority in the Tudor State (2003), The Northern Rebellion of 1569 (2007), Married Women and the Law (2013, with T. Stretton), and, just published, an edition of the Star Chamber reports in MS BL Harley 2143. A scholar's scholar, she is based in Halifax Nova Scotia where she is Professor of History at Dalhousie University, and makes frequent research trips to the UK. She is active in a number of learned societies such as the North American Conference of British Studies.
