Grounds for election

Jacke Phillips is a Research and Teaching Fellow in the Department of Art History and Archaeology, School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, and Visiting Fellow at the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research, University of Cambridge. Her particular interests are cross-cultural interactions, influences and acculturation between civilizations over Northeast Africa, the East Mediterranean and beyond the Red Sea, especially comparative material technologies and typologies Jacke has conducted extensive fieldwork in the Sudan, Egypt, Greece and Qatar, including five seasons as Assistant Director of the Aksum Archaeological Project and involvement in the Ethiopian Heritage Conservation Project to develop the new Aksum museum. Since 2002 she has been Assistant Field-Director for Archaeology for the Suakin Project. She has published extensively on both her fieldwork and her other research interests.
