Kevin Clancy has been Director of the Royal Mint Museum since 2003, having previously been the Assistant Curator for ten years. He is the author of: A history of the sovereign: chief coin of the world (2015); An illustrated history of the Royal Mint (2016); and Objects of war: currency in a time of conflict (2018); as well as the editor of several other books. He specialises in the history of the British coinage of the modern period, particularly the 17th and 18th centuries, and his most recent article was ‘The silver crisis of the 1690s’, in the British Numismatic Journal (2017). He is Secretary to the Royal Mint Advisory Committee, and the current President of the British Numismatic Society, having previously been its Director. He has curated many exhibitions, for example at the Bank of England Museum, and is responsible for the Royal Mint’s permanent displays at the Tower of London (2013) and, most recently, the Royal Mint itself (2016).
