Grounds for election

Frank Green is Senior Archaeologist with the New Forest National Park Authority, and an archaeobotanist with special interests Roman and medieval urban sites. His MPhil research concerned archaeobotanic remains from Winchester from the 10th to 15th centuries AD. Between 1997 and 2006 he was Heritage Officer with Test Valley Borough Council with responsibility for curatorial archaeology, and between 1980 and 1997 he was Director of Test Valley Archaeological Trust. He has published widely on environmental archaeology, including substantial reports on plant remains from Cowdery’s Down, Lewis Priory, Southampton, Cirencester, Gloucester, and Winchester. Methodological contributions include studies of differential preservation of plan remains in medieval urban sites. Reports on excavations at Romsey Abbey, and St Helen’s Church, Cumberworth, Lincolnshire, are due for publication this year. Since 2008 he has been a Trustee of the Hampshire and Wight Trust for Maritime Archaeology.
