Grounds for election

He is a well known columnist , TV and radio commentator in Denmark, and has held numerous visiting fellowships, including at the universities of Oxford, Cambridge and Harvard. He is an authority on heraldry and military orders, on which he has published two books, with two others forthcoming. Additionally, he has published more than thirty learned articles in these areas. He is a member of the Heraldry Society editorial committee, and was a long serving Chairman of the Danish Heraldry Society, a position which he held concurrently with the Presidency of the Scandinavian Heraldry Society, a position which he held for ten years. He was co-organiser of a four day symposium on the heraldry of the Military Orders held at the Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen in 2017. He is an Academician of the Académie Internationale d’Héraldique and a fellow of the Royal Historical Society. In 2017 he was honoured with knighthood of the Danish royal order of the Dannebrog.
