Grounds for election

Currently President of the Australian and New Zealand Association for Medieval and Early Modern Studies, Dr Jones specialises in the history of medieval political thought. A section editor for the Routledge History of Monarchy, his many publications include Eclipse of Empire?: Perceptions of the Western Empire and its Rulers in Late Medieval France (2007), and the edited collection John of Paris: Beyond Royal and Papal Power (2015). He is also interested in the history of the book and in the legacies of the medieval and early modern world in Aotearoa New Zealand. He has overseen the recent digital edition of the Canterbury Roll, a significant medieval manuscript held in New Zealand, and with Stephen Winter has written Magna Carta and New Zealand - History, Law and Politics in Aotearoa (2017).
