Grounds for election

Katherine has a distinguished career as an historical geographer, her focus the West Country Early Medieval period. The Celtic Christian settlement plan presented by Sherborne hitherto unnoticed added new insight to early West Saxon history prompting a re-reading of the Aldhelm corpus, Sherborne’s first bishop: papers published by Antiquity, BAR, ASSAH & Oxbow. She convened contributed to & co-edited papers from the Cerne Abbey Millennium 987-1987, Sherborne Benedictine Millennium 998-1998 & Aldhelm & Sherborne 705-2005 conferences. Setting up a Bournemouth CE programme convened The Trial of the Cerne Giant prompting a field exercise taping out a Giantess hillfigure one of 5 publications for a new university. Has given papers at London, Exeter, Jarrow, Oxford, Manchester, Winchester, to the Arabian Studies Seminar & the Bangor Medieval Music conference & Canterbury Gregorian Soc on the CD recorded at the Aldhelm/2005 conference, a carmen performed to a tradition extant in Finland.
