Grounds for election

Professor Neubauer is nominated for his outstanding contribution to European Archaeology through the promotion of remote sensing and computing applications in archaeology. Professor Neubauer was appointed at the University of Vienna in 1995 and is Professor at the-Vienna Institute for Archaeological Science and the Institute for Prehistory and Historical Archaeology. His research covers Europe and North Africa and he is credited with more than 200 publications. In 2008 he was recognised as the Austrian Champion in European Research and Austrian Researcher of the Year in 2016. Editor of the Journal “ViaVIAS” and Associate Editor of the Journal “Archaeological Prospection”, his research interests include graphical analysis of archaeological stratigraphy. He directs the multinational Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Archaeological Prospection and Virtual Archaeology and championed new technology for archaeological uses in key European sites including Stonehenge and Carnuntum.
