Grounds for election

Dr. Lorenzon is an archaeologist and architectural specialist. She researches ancient architecture, combining geoarchaeology, ethnoarchaeology and social anthropology. She has worked in the Mediterranean, the Americas and Asia. Her core expertise lies in building archaeology, geoarchaeology, and ethnoarchaeology, analysing the built environment as part of material culture to determine issues of society self-characterisation, craft specialisation, identities creation and preservation. Her PhD (University of Edinburgh), “Earthen architecture in Bronze Age Crete: from raw materials to manufacture”, highlighted the importance of combining macro and microscopic data in determining labour organisation and craftsmanship in ancient societies. Currently, Dr Lorenzon works at the Centre of Excellence in Ancient Near Eastern Empires, University of Helsinki, looking at sustainable architecture and the relationship between power and architecture in the Ancient Near East.
