Grounds for election

He has an international reputation as a military historian and consultant for archaeological projects from the English Civil War, War of 1812, the Great War and World War Two. He has project managed for more than twenty archaeological projects on the Western Front (currently working on a Project Beaumont Hamel (PBH) for the centenary of the Great War). He is a military small finds and military artefacts expert, and President of ‘No Man’s Land’ the European Group for Great War Archaeology. He is co-author of ‘Digging the Trenches: The Archaeology of the Western Front’ and has written or edited seven other books on military history plus numerous articles for journals; has contributed to numerous archaeological television series, and lectures widely on the public understanding and interpretation of battlefield archaeology
