Grounds for election

Dr Andrew Seaman is a senior lecturer in the Department of Archaeology at Canterbury Christ Church University where he specialises in early medieval archaeology. Current research projects include: a reassessment of the high status settlement at Dinas Powys; an examination of the palaeoenvironmental evidence from the Vale of Glamorgan; a reconstruction of Welsh landscapes using the evidence of field-names; and, together with Professor Stephen Ripon, an AHRC-funded review of palaeoenvironmental changes at the end of Roman Britain. In 2011 to 2014 he directed excavations at the Ty’n-y-Coed earthworks at Dinas Powys, shortly to be published in Archaeologia Cambrensis. Other publications include more than a dozen journal articles and book chapters, with a substantial volume jointly edited with R Comeau entitled Living off the land: agriculture in Wales 400-1600 AD due out later this year. He is the Treasurer of the Medieval Settlement Research Group, and a member of the Council of the RAI.
