Grounds for election

Simon Beattie took a double first in German and Russian, followed an MA in Lexicography (passed with Distinction), at the University of Exeter. After university, he became a member of the Philological Society, working for Bloomsbury and Oxford University Press on dictionary projects before working for the antiquarian bookseller, Bernard Quaritch. Simon has now been an antiquarian bookseller for over twenty years, during which he has written on various book-related subjects for The Book Collector, The Book Club of California Quarterly, and The New Antiquarian (the blog of the Antiquarian Booksellers’ Association of America), and given talks at Senate House Library; the Pratt Institute, New York; and the Beinecke Library. Simon is a member of the Bibliographical Society, the Buckinghamshire Archaeological Society, a resident faculty member at the annual York Antiquarian Book Seminar, and currently sits on the council of the Antiquarian Booksellers’ Association.
