Grounds for election

Alice Stevenson is Associate Professor, Museum Studies at UCL Institute of Archaeology. She has been Curator of the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology, Researcher in World Archaeology at the Pitt Rivers Museum and Archivist for the Egypt Exploration Society. She led the AHRC project Artefacts of Excavation, relocating finds from British excavations in Egypt. She is on the Executive Board of UCL Press. She co-edited World Archaeology at the Pitt Rivers Museum (2013) and wrote The Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology (2015) and Scattered Finds: Archaeology, Egyptology and Museums (2019). Her research focuses on the professional practices and ethics of archaeology, anthropology and museums, past and present. Her specialist expertise combined with her understanding of colonial legacies, indigenous archaeologies, breaking down barriers between field and museum, and unethical deaccessioning, make Alice a good candidate for the Fellowship.
