Christabel Hutchings is the author of two books and numerous papers on the history of Monmouthshire, and has promoted research and publications on the history of the county, served on the advisory committee of the four volumes of the Gwent County History, and for ten years has been Secretary of the Monmouthshire Antiquarian Association (founded 1847). Her contribution during that period has done much to develop archaeology and history on a country-wide level, assisting museums,societies and other agencies.
